Lindy's Plane |
The pattern sold for "5 cents in stamp or coin" like all of her patterns to this date.
Here'a link to a handwritten copy of Nancy Cabot's Lindy's Plane quilt pattern.
The pattern is for a 12" finished block which I believe to be the size most commonly used by Nancy Cabot.
The pattern says to use blue and white fabrics to make 21 pieced blocks, 21 plain blocks and a six inch border.
The pattern according to her directions would make a quilt that looks like this-

The upper right corner shows one section sewn together. You need four identical sections like this that you rotate as you sew together. You can get templates for Lindy's Plane here. The center half square triangle units finish at 2" if you want to use another method to make them. The strips with a triangle at the end can be made from a 1 1/2" X 3 1/2" strip of background fabric and a 1 1/2" square of blue fabric sewn to the end on the diagonal using the stitch and flip technique. The rectangle units are best made from the template.
